The New Zealand branch of thrive pr + communications were thrilled to work with Subway and Cycling New Zealand in celebrating the opening of Cycling NZ’s Auckland Performance Hub.

To commemorate this occasion, Subway offered a free Subway brekky to cyclists en route to work down Tamaki Drive. Between the hours of 6.30am and 8.30am on June 28th, commuters were encouraged to cycle through Mission Bay to pick up their free Breakfast Sub, in celebration of the sport of cycling.

“Subway is very proud to be the national sponsor of Cycling New Zealand’s Performance Hubs,” explains Subway Senior Marketing Manager Kate Brody. “We’re celebrating the opening of the Auckland Hub by combining two of the things we love the most – Cycling and Subs – and spreading the word to cycling enthusiasts across Mission Bay and beyond.”

Subway is the national sponsor of Cycling New Zealand’s Performance Hub program, which aims to help sustain the future success of high performance cycling in New Zealand by increasing both the quality and quantity of young riders feeding into the elite tier of the sport.

Both Subway and Cycling New Zealand are supporters of active, healthy living through sport,” explains Andrew Matheson CEO Cycling New Zealand.

“That’s why we’re delighted that Subway has come on board as the national sponsor of our Regional Performance Hubs, empowering these young athletes with the resources they need and help fuel the future of New Zealand cycling.”

The opening of the Auckland Performance Hub marks the fourth of eight planned hubs across New Zealand. It follows Regional Cycling Performance Hubs in Waikato-Bay of Plenty and Otago-Southland, along with a national hub for Mountain Biking in Rotorua.

Cycling New Zealand and Subway, together with other regional sponsors, are currently working towards three further regional road and track cycling hubs and a national BMX performance hub.
