Happy Birthday #HeraldSun25 – Melbourne Thrivers celebrate 25-year milestone of media powerhouse

The Herald Sun celebrated its 25th birthday last night with a star studded event including some of Victoria’s biggest names in sport, TV, politics and entertainment and the Melbourne Thrivers were right in the heart of the action.

We joined the party to raise a glass and celebrate a publication that has been at the heart of the Victorian community since October 8 1990 and a daily part of Thrive life for the last 15 years.

Thrivers joined the red carpet at the Emerson with celebrities including Bert Newton, Molly Meldrum, Leigh Matthews, Bec Judd and long time Thrive friend and party circuit Doyen Lillian Frank. Lillian has to be one of our all-time favourites and she has been a huge supporter of ours, proclaiming our events annually as events of the year!

As well as rubbing shoulders with the who’s who of Melbourne and celebrating with our Herald Sun friends, highlights from the night included a hilarious roast and toast by broadcaster and comedian Dave Hughes, music performances by Kate Cebrano and Nathaniel, and some extraordinary stories from the Herald Sun archives courtesy of HWT Victorian Managing Director, Peter Blunden.  As if the night couldn’t get any better, Molly Meldrum took to the decks and in true Molly style banged out a killer play list!

“As an agency we have worked with the Herald Sun for over 15 years. From the extraordinary support of the star studded annual event Starry Starry Night that we created, to countless story and picture opportunities, our current work with the team on the Good Friday Appeal and the list goes on. Peter Blunden is someone we continue to admire, and we congratulate and thank all the editors, journalists, photographers and the Herald Sun executive for their amazing work. We look forward to another 25 years of great reading!” Leilani Abels, Managing Director, Thrive.
