McKenzie’s Food Celebrates International Year of the Pulses

McKenzie’s celebrated the International Year of The Pulses (legumes) with a delectable event at Thrive360.

The International Year of Pulses 2016 is a global campaign, sanctioned by the UN, aiming to heighten public awareness of the nutritional benefits of legumes. McKenzie’s is proud to be on the IYP Committee and support the consumption of legumes amongst Australians.

As one of the largest retail legume producers in Australia, McKenzie’s Foods knows only too well the benefits of eating the nutrient rich ingredients.

McKenzie’s intimate event saw Sydney’s food and lifestyle media treated to a demonstration by The Internet Chef followed by a delicious three course meal showcasing just some of the legume range produced by McKenzie’s.

Dishes included:

  • Spinach & Split Pea Soup with Mint Pinenut Pesto

  • Chicken Breast served with Roasted Sweet Potato, Pear & Crunchy Chickpea Salad

  • Three Cheese Platter served with Sea Salt & Chickpea Crackers

The demonstration illustrated how quick and easy it is to introduce legumes into our everyday diet. Legumes have long been known to hold fantastic nutritional qualities and are very economical.

Thrive360 was transformed into an Australian garden with a long communal table covered in flora and fauna as well as colourful legumes.
