The highly anticipated FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019™ kicked off in France in early June, setting broadcast records and attracting huge crowds. Thrive worked with Optus Sport to promote its broadcast of the global tournament, including its impressive female-led broadcast team featuring some of Australia’s best football talent and journalists. As well as promoting the broadcast, tournament and Optus Sport experts throughout the campaign, we worked with Optus to launch its unique gifting initiative, giving all Australian school kids access to Optus Sport for the duration of the tournament at no cost. Held at grassroots club North Sydney United Football Club, some of the star’s of Optus Sport’s broadcast team - including former Matildas Cheryl Salisbury and Heather Garriock, World Cup hero and retired Socceroo John Aloisi, swimming legend Leisel Jones and WBBL Melbourne Stars cricketer Holly Furling - attended the launch, having a kick with young players and engaging with media.
