NZX-Listed Precinct Properties is currently building Commercial Bay, arguably the most transformational development Auckland has even seen. The world-class mix of restaurants, food and beverage purveyors, office spaces, public environments and an urban laneway shopping experience will create a new precinct for Auckland and completely reshape the waterfront area bounded by Britomart, the Viaduct and the CBD.
With two international partnerships in the food and beverage space to announce, Precinct tapped Thrive to bring national attention to this news.
The first piece of news was around AvroKO, one of the world’s leading hospitality design firms, who will design Harbour Eats, Commercial Bay’s 700-seat food hall. Inspired by food halls and markets found in cities like New York, London and Paris, Harbour Eats will be open from early until late and showcase a fusion of offerings, from food truck operators looking for a more permanent location to both new and established chefs. Despite operating in over twenty-one countries and thirty-two cities worldwide, AvroKO have never before worked in New Zealand or Australia.
The second piece of news was around AvroKO’s sister business, AvroKO Hospitality Group, who own and operate restaurants and bars across America and beyond. Precinct have announced that AHG will open Saxon + Parole restaurant in the development’s marquee restaurant tenancy, overlooking Waitematā Harbour. Overseeing the menu will be AHG executive chef and partner, Michelin-starred chef Brad Farmerie. Chef Farmerie has longstanding Kiwi connections, having worked alongside his mentor Peter Gordon for many years at the Sugar Club in London and at AHG’s first restaurant, the New Zealand-influenced PUBLIC, in New York City.
Commercial Bay is set to open in 2019. For more information, please visit www.commercialbay.co.nz.
