THRIVE : TO GROW VIGOROUSLY, FLOURISH + BE SUCCESSFUL
AUSTRALIA & NZ’S LEADING “CORPSUMER” PUBLIC RELATIONS AGENCY
UNIQUELY COMBINING NEW AGE CORPORATE AND BRAND COMMUNICATIONS
WHAT WE DO
Thrive is Australasia's largest independent PR agency with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Auckland, an alliance in Perth and a specialist Asian communications offering. We work with established businesses who are transforming and brands disrupting and growing.
As a heavyweight agency, we combine the “best of both worlds” when it come to attributes of the multinational and boutique agencies ; big agency resources, investment in the best talent, unrivalled best practice standards and processes, yet coupled with an entrepreneurial spirit and the freedom to do things differently.
Thrive is a partner to big or emerging brands in the 'corp-sumer' space, where we deliver public relations and digital media services that combine new age corporate and brand communications under the one, privately owned agency umbrella.
Whether it’s engaging major enterprise, SMBs, governments or local communities, our clients love how we combine logic and magic to the way we build smart campaigns. Our digital capabilities sit within a fully integrated PR service model that allows us to deliver the basic PR services the best, yet we push the boundaries with our clients and introduce new communications methods that reshape their definition of PR. For two decades we have been famous for earned media - we have hundreds of media contacts - but being independent means we are 100% accountable and we innovate constantly to ensure our client service is ahead of the game.
Thrive was founded in Melbourne in 2000, by Kiwi-born Leilani Abels.
At just twenty-five years of age, with a background in sports marketing and management, Leilani started the agency with a goal to raise the bar with accountability and ROI in the PR industry. Thrive’s foundation clients were LVMH, Melbourne Racing Club, Reece Group and the National Gallery of Victoria. The agency started and ran a celebrity charity gala called Starry Starry Night for The Alannah & Madeline Foundation which led to the agency becoming one of the most recognised in the market. Pitching and winning the Nike account in 2004 was the impetus for Thrive to set up shop in Sydney, which allowed Thrive to attract the best talent and the biggest local and global brands in Australia and New Zealand. Leilani's business and media connections stood her in good stead to extend the agency's B2B, corporate and crisis comms credentials, working with senior executives and other influential stakeholders.
Thrive made an agency acquisition in New Zealand, and opened its first Queensland office in Brisbane in 2016. Its Gold Coast office was announced in early 2018.
While many others have come and gone in the PR industry since Thrive's inception in 2000, this agency has continued to go from strength to strength with the evolution of its PR services over nearly two decades. Content, social and digital services are now key services at Thrive. The balance of corporate and consumer/brand expertise within Thrive, led the agency to coin the term "corp-sumer" for which the agency is now well known for.
When Leilani started Thrive she chose the company’s name deliberately for its definition: To grow vigorously, flourish and be successful. “It's what I strive to deliver to my team and Thrive's clients every day,” says Leilani, who today remains Managing Director for the company.
